This year marks the 50th Africa Day celebration, which has been observed annually since 1963 on 25 May.
Africa Day represents the Day when African Countries became an unity. This year Africa Day will be held on a Saturday 25 th May. It is the annual commemoration of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on the 25th of May 1963. Africa Day is also a celebration of the freedom and independence of Africa, and its history, heritage and culture.

Africa Day Johannesburg, South Africa
AFRICA DAY in Johannesburg will celebrate its melting pot of people and cultures from all over the continent, all of whom make the city what it is.
A full weekend has been set aside for Africa Day festivities, on 24 and 25 May, with activities focusing on arts and crafts, dance, poetry and music. Serious issues, such as xenophobia, will also be discussed and debated. There are workshops and an assortment of exhibitions to “literally encompass everyone.”
